IMPRINT, Slocum Hall Library Extension, Syracuse, New York
This is an extension project of original Architecture Buildings.
The site was on a narrow zone on Syracuse University’s
main campus. It maintains the continuity of the campus
style and fits the need for circulation. The new design
focused on the dialogue between new and old.
Visitors experience a welcoming atmosphere in the lobby through visual connections with all floor
levels and the sculptural staircase.
The staircase, occupying the main space of the atrium, links the various areas together to create continuity, while
the transparent rear facade facilitates a direct dialogue between the old and new buildings.
Sunlight passes through the perforated panel, casting shadows reminiscent of the
Slocum Hall facade. This unique light effect symbolizes the spiritual connection
between the old and new buildings.
